Renault is enjoying an exciting end to 2010, with the news that it has won no less than four awards in the 2011 What Van? Awards, including Van of the Year.

The key component for two of the trophy wins, Van of the Year and Large Panel Van of the Year, was the French brand’s flagship New Master range, which only launched in April this year. Available in both front- and rear-wheel drive versions, with a striking new look, improved fuel economy and class-leading storage and equipment levels, the newcomer is already proving a hit with business customers of every type and size. New for 2011 is the Renault’s ‘pay-as-you-earn’ iCare maintenance system, designed specifically for the LCV sector, could hold the key to helping van fleet operators to not only minimise downtime, but also address growing concerns that suggest van fleets are the least roadworthy vehicles on the road today.(Click the iCare link to read more about this very exciting system exclusive to the Renault LCV range)

The range of modern, fuel-efficient, multi-valve dCi common rail diesel engines offer strong torque performance across a wide rev band and excellent responsiveness. The line-up features 2.0-litre dCi units producing 90 and 115hp and, since early 2008, a new development of the 2.5-litre dCi engine with output increased to 150hp. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard on every engine, with the option of Renault’s robotised Quickshift6 automated manual transmission which lets the driver choose between manual, clutchless gear selection, or fully automatic shifts. The system offers fuel economy benefits of up to 10% depending on real world use.All versions of Trafic feature a generous standard specification, with features such as a driver’s airbag and ABS with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) with Brake Assist fitted to every model.

Customers have access to an exceptional range of options that cover all dimensions of vehicle ownership: practicality, with different door options, bulkhead, speed limiters and tachographs; safety, with additional airbags and stability and traction control systems; comfort, with air conditioning and heat-reflecting windscreens; and convenience, with satellite navigation, electric windows and door mirrors, parking sensors and trip computer. Many of the most popular options can be obtained in a range of cost-effective option packs.All versions are protected by a Thatcham Category 1 alarm, remote central locking with deadlocks and immobiliser and R.A.I.D. (Renault Anti-Intruder Device) that automatically locks the doors when the vehicle is in motion above 5 mph.

Additional security measures come in the form of anti-drill door locks and ignition barrel, plus a full steel bulkhead.Active safety provisions include disc brakes all round with ABS with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) and Brake Assist. ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) is available as an option, a system that includes traction and understeer control and which adjusts automatically according to the weight of load on board.
