SMC Renault - New 2008 Renault Kangoo Van
New Kangoo Van Launched Autumn 2008
The New Kangoo Van range goes on sale in UK during Autumn 2008 with two wheelbases and choice of up to three trim levels. The new, agile Kangoo Compact is aimed for urban use and for all types of corporate use, from small business owners through to large fleets. Both body styles focus on comfort, design, ergonomics, practicality, quality, reliability and respect for the environment.
Retaining all of the previous version's inimitable character, but adding even greater comfort, modernity, quality and versatility, the New Kangoo Van goes further than ever before to meet the needs of its users. The newcomer is the fruit of an extensive development programme and in the realms of design, practicality and environmental-friendliness, represents a significant step forward when it comes to providing professionals with an economical and reliable van.
New Kangoo Van’s design is modern and expressive, featuring a short, robust front end, with a spacious interior and a large, practical cargo area. Meanwhile, the forward-positioned, panoramic, MPV-style windscreen ensures an airy, bright cabin.
Inside, the accent is on space, comfort and practicality thanks to an array of features and functions that are unprecedented in the compact van segment. The high seating position ensures a broad view of the road and combines with the dashboard-mounted gearlever to deliver a standard of driving comfort on a par with that of a passenger car.
A comprehensive engine range: Kangoo Van: 1.5 dCi 68, 86 and new 106hp, plus 1.6 8V 86hp and new 1.6 16V 106hp. Kangoo Compact: 1.5 dCi 68 and 86, plus 1.6 8V 86hp is planned.
A payload ranging from 650 to 800kg for standard wheelbase and 500kg for Compact, will mean the New Kangoo will be as hard working as the rest of the Renault Van range.
New Kangoo Van’s length of 4.21m frees up an optimised load capacity of 3m³, while its interior width (1.21m between wheelarches) makes it possible to accept a Euro pallet. Hinged, asymmetrical rear doors and the sliding side loading doors (depending on version) give easy access to the cargo area.
High equipment levels include (depending on version): full steel bulkhead (excluding entry-level Compact), CD-MP3 stereo and sliding side door. Multi-media and Bluetooth compatibility also available, together with a wide array of options: rear parking sensors, speed limiter and sliding roof flap. The New Kangoo Van is equipped with several practical storage solutions, including dashboard storage for an A4 document, an overhead parcel shelf and a large, 15-litre lidded glovebox. Multi-media and Bluetooth connectivity mean that New Kangoo Van can also double easily as a travelling office.
Car-like ride and comfort levels have become a key feature in Renualt commercial vehicles and this ahs been achieved due to the New kangoo being produced on the Scénic platform.
The environment has also been considered with the 1.5 dCi 68 and 86 both part of Renault’s ‘eco²’ programme with emitting low emissions of only 140 and 137 grams per kilometre – first in Kangoo Van market category. Fuel economy equally impressive with up to 54.3 mpg on combined cycle for 1.5 dCi 86. (55.4 mpg and 135 grams for Compact). Post-launch a version offering 129 g/km is planned.
