Motability at SMC Renault

How does it work?

As the market leader in safety, with eight vehicles in the range scoring the maximum five stars in the Euro NCAP safety tests, SMC Renault offers an extensive range of models through the Motability scheme.

With the advanced design technology offered by the Renault range, all of our models can be cost effectively adapted by Motability Accredited Specialists to meet the particular needs of a disabled driver or user.

SMC are your nearest Motability Accredited Renault Dealer.  You will find a commitment to personal service, facilities for easy access including ramps and wide doors, plus expert assistance from one of our Motability specialists.

Who is eligible?

To apply for any of the Motability schemes you must receive either:-

A Higher Rate Motability Component of the Disability Living Allowance (HRMC of DLA)

OR

A War Pensioners’ Motability Supplement (WPMS)

Please note that you should expect to receive your allowance for the full length of the agreement you choose. However, as long as you have at least 12 months award length remaining, you can apply for the scheme.

Drivers, non drivers, carers and the family

Our vehicles can be adapted and tailored to the driving needs of a disabled person. However, you don’t have to be a driver to qualify for one of the Motability schemes. Non drivers who receive the mobility allowance can obtain a vehicle as a passenger and propose up to two other people as permitted drivers (such as a family member or carer). Applications can also be made on behalf of a child, aged three and over, in receipt of the allowance.

The schemes

Motability offers two schemes to help disabled people obtain a vehicle.

Contract Hire

The vast majority of Motability customers choose to obtain and pay for a brand new car through the Motability Contract Hire Scheme. Customers pay part, or all, of their disability allowance, plus an Advance Payment where applicable. The Contract Hire agreement includes all maintenance and servicing, comprehensive insurance and full breakdown cover for the vehicle, provided by the RAC.

• Renault Motability Contract Hire Scheme

• Length of the agreement: 3 years

• Vehicles available: Most Renault models

• Car insurance: Comprehensive included

• Car maintenance: All servicing included

• Mileage allowance: 45,000 miles over 3 years

• Adaptation: To be installed and removed at the end of contract at the customer’s own expense

Hire Purchase Schemes

You may prefer to purchase your vehicle under a Hire Purchase agreement, if you:

• Want to buy a second-hand car

• Need adaptations and would prefer not to have to re-install them after three years

• Regularly cover high mileage (more than 45,000 over three years)

• You can select a hire purchase option over four or five years using the Motability Hire Purchase Scheme for new vehicles, or a two or three year option for a used vehicle.

Under the Hire Purchase Scheme you are responsible for funding insurance, breakdown cover, and servicing and repairs costs, whereas these are all included in the Contract Hire Scheme.
